What is MUN?
Model United Nations (Model UN or MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations.
The participants role-play as diplomats representing a country in a simulated session of a committee of the United Nations, such as the Security Council or the General Assembly. Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.
We have seven schools and around 100+ students who will be present for the day working on their diplomatic and negotiating skills. MUN while fun is also a day of practising language, inquiry, research skills, collaboration, listening skills and, of course, public speaking, interdisciplinary learning and so on.
All the 21st Century skills we want students to learn without them realizing it (like they may in a classroom.) This is authentic learning and authentic assessment at it’s very best. All school learning should be like this !
