BEKASI_DAKTACOM: Memberikan pendidikan ke siswa tidak saja dilakukan dimeja kelas. Namun ada hal lain yang perlu diperhatikan oleh pendidik dalam memberikan karakter berkualitas kepada anak didik.

At Sekolah Victory Plus our mission statement explicitly states that;
“we will involve parents as partners in creating a meaningful learning environment”
and one way in which we ensure this is by supporting our PSG’s events, on this particular occasion Ibu Yustina Ries Sunarti was speaking to the parents as part of a series about effective parenting, teenagers and self esteem, with a topic title of “Mum, How can you make us like this?; How to build your child’s self esteem”.
We had a sell out group of mothers there, all dressed in the batik theme. Everyone was expected to participate and share, as our PSG wants our parents to learning as our children do, not just passively listening. (or sitting in an audience playing on a phone and chatting!) But all of our parents are great, and the session went over the allotted time because we had so many parents sharing and asking great questions.
Finally, they finished with some door prizes for several lucky moms! Continue reading
The Secondary school are currently camping at MANDALAWANGI CAMP GROUND, Cibodas, Puncak. Grades 7-11 are involved. This is partially a DIKNAS requirement and partially because we believe that outdoor education is a vital aspect of developing a student’s rounded character.
The students have a number of activities to be involved in, including Trekking to a waterfall, First Aid training, learning how to tie knots, Camp craft, Morse Code, Flying fox Outbound and canoeing.
“To practice art, no matter how well or badly is a way to make your soul grow. So do it.”
– Kurt Vonnegut, an American writer
Art edcuation is truly a chance for students to express and demonstrate their creativity, their communicaiton skills, their collaboration with others, their self-discipline and their self-confidence. This is why Sekolah Victory Plus holds regular student performances. This year our parents and teachers were treated to a version of Pocahontas.
All of our Primary School Students were involved and hard at work practicing several times a week for the last few months. There was screaming, there was tears and there was some laughter; and that’s just from the supervising teachers!
I know that everyone enjoyed themselves, as well as appreciating the students’ hard work, perseverance and creativity. Of course, everyone needs a ‘thank-you’, but in particular this production would not be possible without a producer and a director, so thank-you very much to Ibu Dewi and Ibu Lita.
Traditionally, one does not wish a performer good luck, but instead we said to all of our performers on the day, “Break a leg!”
Last Friday KemDikBud hosted an Education and Technology Conference that included a panel of students discussing their opinion with regards to education and how they view technology. A host, B.Aini from Sekolah Victory Plus asked them various questions and allowed them to answer. Their responses were measured, thoughtful and interesting. I think as adults and as educators we need to listen to this student voice, and there may be some lessons that we need to take heed of !
This audience was made up of Principals, Directors and Heads of Schools from SPK and National Schools in Indonesia. There was over 200 or 300 people present. Some of the most interesting student responses are recorded here. Continue reading
